WWW.Rootsweb.ancestry.com is a large site that features data bases, mailing lists and inquiries, and user submitted family trees. It is a sister site for Ancestry, so sometimes when you click on a data source you are interested in, the site moves to Ancestry to explore further. This is a fee based site however, and you may not want to get committed to that expense at this time. I have used the mailing lists, and user trees in my research. You want to be careful not to just ADD the data to your family tree until you can prove that the data is accurate. Unfortunately, many people do just that. They copy what someone else has entered and then post it themselves. If there is an error, then this is replicated. The mailing lists are a great way to find another person who is working on that surname or that geographic location. They also have tools showing how you can contribute your tree or to learn about a new resource or process as a genealogist.
